Glastonbury Festival 2013

Acoustic Field

The Acoustic Field is dominated by the Acoustic Stage. It's situated in Norman's Close - the field next to the Kidz field. As the name implies, it's the place to hear chilled, unplugged sounds from a host of top names. The field is also home to the Pilton Palais Cinema tent.

ACOUSTIC STAGE 2013

We’d like to welcome you all up to the Acoustic Stage where we’ve got not only an amazing bill lined up but also a new super duper (not to mention larger) tent.

Kicking off proceedings in 2013 we have one of Ireland’s newest and most exciting bands, The Riptide Movement, who are fast becoming a festival favourite with their brand of melodic and infectious music - most definitely a band not to be missed. The clip below, taken from their sell out show last November in Dublin’s Olympia, is well worth checking out.

Next up is Rainy Boy Sleep who did so well for us in 2011 we just had to have him back again. He’s interrupting work on his debut album to come play for us so book your square foot of grass early in the day to avoid disappointment!

Jake Bugg
is doing a solo spot for us. What with those three and Lucy Ward (pictured, below), Joel Rafael, the legendary Martin Stephenson, Martha Wainwright, Glen Hansard and Sinead O’Connor (the latter two making welcome returns) you won't want to leave the tent!

We’ve been trying for years to tempt Steve Winwood, Bill Wyman and Lucinda Williams to appear at the Acoustic Stage and guess what?  This year they’re all performing for us.

In 2011, the unsigned Gabrielle Aplin (pictured, below) did an early spot for us on the Friday. Everyone loved her beautiful performance. Since then she signed a major record deal and has a couple of chart singles and a chart album to her credit. This year she’s one of our main acts.

A few weeks ago the Emerging Band Competition was held down in Pilton. The clear winner was Bridie Jackson & The Arbour, come and check them out and you’ll realise why. The Zac Brown Band are a mega band in their native USA; if their YouTube clips are anything to go by we’re all in for a major treat!

The Main Stage might have the Stones but we have The Beatles, that’s the Bootleg Beatles (pictured, below) and you won’t notice the difference. They always pack the Acoustic Stage to the rafters and have provided many highlights over the years.

The London Community Gospel Choir are back for one of their annual, traditional tent-filling sessions and then there’s The Proclaimers, Deacon Blue’s Ricky Ross, new sensation Blues Boy Dan, Seth Lakeman, Jack Savoretti, The Gypsy Queens (pictured, below), Matt Corby and the incredible Trevor Moss and Hannah-Lou, not to mention Emerging Band Competition runner-up, Port Isla.

It promises to be quite a year!
