It takes a helluva lot of artists to create this world for you to experience, this is no art-trail approach, this shit is seriously woven together and immersive and its working across all kinds of different levels, so where to start?
Well, there is us of course – to design and build this world takes an extended team of artists and unsung heroes from Art and Light Directors to Scaffolders, Chippies and Producers- too many to start naming them without fear of missing someone out.
We also have a huge number of artistic contributions and supporters, from all sides of the artistic spectrum:
This year we have received Arts Council funding to augment our world with 5 high quality commissions by visual artists, we aim for this to be the beginning of a new way for contemporary art and festivals to work together. Digital artists Squidsoup create psycho-bug projections that have intelligence; The Darkroom and Jim & Max Woodall transform the Hub into an immersive, interactive environment with installation and projections; Studioweave create an architectural, glowing sculpture that you can lounge, climb and dance on.
On the other side of us we also have art by the festival goers that been given room to create their shack installations. Then we also have all the artists that create the installations in the alleys and theres the artists on site that come and, intervene with what’s been made. Nik Diesel has sound designed the alleys - the first time a set like this has been brought to life with a score in the same way as you would a film. Basically it's layers and layers of work by hundreds and hundreds of artists, so enjoy! Detailed info about all the artists can be found on the large billboard poster in Shangri-La.
