Strummerville - The Joe Strummer New Music Foundation - will again be holding the biggest campfire at the Glastonbury festival this year. The campfire will be based near the Joe Strummer memory stone in the top corner of the Arcadia field.
In 2009, performing acoustically around the campfire were Strummerville supported ‘new talent’ artists including Dan Smith, Cheka, GoodTimes GoodTimes, Peggy Sue and The Pirates, The Lost Brothers and many more. Billy Bragg, Leon Walker and Johnny Neeson also performed.
For Joe Strummer, the idea of a “campfire” - any loose assembly of people bonded by the rising flames and the advancing dawn - became an art form in itself. The campfire was the melting pot, the wisdom stone, the HolyGrail; the essential outdoor forum for constantly evolving ideas and conversations.
Come and share some love by the campfire.
