A45A0061The Gully will once again feature an array of music from the far reaches of the Globe including Panama, Columbia, Australia, Belgium, Cuba, Taiwan, Canada, Europe and the UK and will feature a diverse selection of cool live acts nicely glued together with great DJ’s playing throughout the weekend.

This year Friday is full of Latin grooves, Saturday Afro Beats, and Sunday brings a Reggae Yard with legendary Dawn Penn and Shaggy, promising a true carnival feel.

Friday on Gully will focus its eyes towards South America with four exciting acts from Columbia. Canalón de Timbiquí embody the rich musical mix of African and Latin-American traditions unique to Colombia’s Pacific coast, Cero39 with their creations from Latin pop culture, Colectro with an explosive performance, DJ Lolita who’s set is a representation of the Afro style fully loaded with beats, groove and flavour and Masilva who compose upbeat, atmospheric songs blending South American tradition and global sounds.

Saturday will bring the Afro Beats with artists including Black Jesus Experience, an 8 piece band performing irresistible Ethiopian Afro-Jazz; Daymé Arocena, who is signed to Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood label and leading the charge for a new generation of Cuban musicians;  Alsarah & The Nubatones, a band that prove over and over that soul crosses all cultural and linguistic barriers; Baloji, an energetic, engaging and highly original artist; and Afriquoi who perform live African dance music, fusing Congolese guitar and Gambian kora virtuosity with UK electronic sensibilities to create a captivating, beautiful performance.

Sunday is Reggae day on Gully hosted by award winning DJ, producer and remixer Seani B. Bringing the beats on Sunday will be one of the UK’s most entertaining live reggae/dub acts: Laid Blak, Talisman will perform their in-your-face social commentary and roots reggae with quality; Donae’O is a pioneer in UK street sounds and original dance music; and closing the party on Sunday will be one of the original queens of reggae music Dawn Penn and Multi Grammy award winning artist Shaggy.
