The Croissant Neuf Field

2009 brings you yet another year of fabulous fun and frolics from the Croissant Neuf field – come rain or shine!

Apart from the great Pyramid stage itself – Croissant Neuf, the longest established venue at the Glastonbury festival and always completely solar powered – is a legend in itself!. Hosting a fantastic array of musicians from Classical to Electronica, Folk to Hip-hop, Rock to Reggae - there is always something to entertain and enthrall all ages.

On Saturday evening Croissant Neuf brings from Brighton the BLISS Club Night - featuring famous DJ’s, London’s up and coming Chew Lips, Chap-hop pioneer Mr. B, The Gentleman Rhymer and much glam, glitz and laughter. Situated in the heart of the greenfields, just over the railway line on the left, this field is a green haven away from the hustle and bustle of Babylon and far from the madd(en)ing crowds of the main stage areas with a ‘village green’ feel, it’s a place to relax, enjoy, listen and learn!  Our focus is on Renewable and Sustainable Energy - all amplified music, lighting and everything else in the field is run on Solar Power, plus the occasional wind turbine and alongside this there are exhibits with expert advice and market stalls – all with “green” ethics to stimulate your curiosity on environmental issues in a passionate yet fun and entertaining way.

This year we have a wonderful new bandstand – a central feature of the field where you can be delighted by allsorts of amazing talented musicians, poets or street style acts. The field itself is a feast to the eye with breathtaking sculptures and garden areas mostly contributed by local craftspeople.

For the first time here at the festival we welcome Ian the Interdimensional Wizard with a range of demonstrations of unusual ideas, inventions and kit for practical use in the new civilization, including hydrogen power and 250,00 volts of solar power! A unique demonstration not to be missed.

Also, new for this year, our lovely modern day witches and the UK’s leading apothecaries and providers of herbal remedies - Sensory Solutions. What better to way to shrug off the stresses of daily life than to try some alternative remedies.

After dark we are revving up the field with exotic entertainment running later than ever before. When the venue ceases to rock lanterns and giant illuminated flowers will colourwash the field and the bandstand music will carry on into wee small hours alongside hot vintage cabaret, pole dancers, talented circus skills artistes and stunning fire performances !

o, in a nutshell, this field has it all – Biofuel to Solar Power advice and demonstrations, witches and wizards, giant flowers and mushrooms, music and juggling, tranquility to zaniness, surreal to the sublime. See ya there!
