Glastonbury Festival 2009 - Worthy Farm, Pilton, Wednesday 24th-Sunday 28th June

The Green Kids Field

Glastonbury Festival Green Kids area, sited on the back half of the Greenpeace field and all activities in the Green Kids field are free of charge.

The area is made up of a children’s performance marquee, a children’s art and craft marquee, smaller craft tents, outside activities, and the Ship Climbing Frame. There will be activities and events to amuse and entertain children of all ages as well as a café and picnic area. There is an enclosed toddler area where you are welcome to be with your very little ones.

Each evening and regularly throughout the day storytelling will take place in the marquee and around the field. Its a great way to end the day for tired kids.

Parents are responsible for their children at all times during the festival. However, sometimes people and children get lost so beside the ship at the top of the field is a Lost Kids Tent. The staff of the Lost Kids Tent can provide help and information for any child who is lost or for any adult who has lost a child.

Is the Green Kids Field a Creche? - NO!!!

Parent/Carers/Guardians are responsible for their children throughout the festival. Glastonbury Festival does not take on the care or responsibility for your children. Every person under the age of 18 on site should have someone responsible for them - generally the adult that brought them to the festival, or an adult that their parent has arranged to be responsible for them.

What Happens if I Lose a Child?

There are two lost kids centres, one up in the Main Kidz Field and one in the Green Kids Field. Both are open from 9 am till 6 pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you lose a child during these hours, come to one of these centres and we will take down details and send out details on the stewards network so relevant people can look for them. We will also provide reassurance and any help we can to the situation. If you lose a child outside of these hours, report it to your nearest stewards or welfare point and the information can be transmitted around the site. Lost Children outside of 9 am to 6pm are taken to Wagonshed Welfare by the Farmhouse, and they can be looked after safely and comfortably until they can be reunited. Losing a child at a place like Glastonbury can be very scary, both for the child and the parents. However, the system is used to dealing with lost kids and children have always been found, normally very quickly, and reunited. If you are bringing children into the festival with you it is worth talking and walking through with them what they should do if you do lose each other. We can also advise you to put your mobile phone number in marker pen on your child's arm, so we can contact you, but not their name. If you don't have a phone just the name of the field you are camped in is helpful.

What Should I do if I Find a Lost Child?

There are two lost kids centres, one up in the Main Kidz Field and one in the Green Kids Field. Both are open from 9 am till 6 pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you find a lost child, bring them to either centre and we will look after them until they can be reunited with their parents. If you find a child outside of these hours take them to the nearest stewards or welfare post who will take them to Wagonshed Welfare. Wagonshed Welfare can look after children through the night and for as long as necessary.
