Oxfam Haiti auction is a huge hit

February 8, 2010

We’re very pleased to report that the eBay auction organised by Glastonbury Festival’s Emily Eavis for Oxfam, raised over £120,000 in just two weeks. All the money will go directly to Oxfam’s rebuilding programme in Haiti, aiding the survivors of the catastrophic earthquake.

The generosity of the celebrities who donated items was matched by the general public who went on to eBay – helping push up the bidding for the wide variety of lots on offer. A big thanks to everyone who bid or helped spread the word.

Says Emily Eavis: “I’d like to thank everyone involved. Everyone’s been so generous, it’s fantastic to see how much people care.  When we first had the idea of an auction for Haiti I never imagined we would raise so much. This should really help to rebuild some of what was lost.”
