Twitter at Glastonbury 2013

June 24, 2013

UPDATE (24 June): The @glastoinfo team – see below – are having a trial run tonight (Monday) from 6-8pm. So, if you’re coming to the Festival and you have a question for them, please tweet it to them then.

We’re pleased to announce details of our Twitter coverage for Glastonbury 2013 – including a new account run by our Information Services team who will be answering any question put to them by those of you on site during the Festival. See below for full information on our three official accounts and how we’ll be using them:

@glastofest
This is the main Glastonbury Festival Twitter feed, which we save for big news and major announcements (so as not to spam your timeline with constant updates). If you’re going to the Festival, we’d recommend turning on “mobile alerts” for this account, so that our tweets will be texted directly to your phone as soon as they’re posted. Twitter’s mobile alerts service is free for most UK mobile users – but it’s worth checking with your provider to see if there is a cost involved in receiving them.

@glastolive
We only use this account during the Festival, to tweet constant updates throughout the event from our team of tweeters roaming the site. This is the one to follow if you want to sample a flavour of the entire Festival as it happens (including lots of pictures and, this year, videos).

@glastoinfo
New for 2013, this account will be run by a team from the Festival’s Information Services. From 8am until 11.30pm from Wednesday 26th to Sunday 30th, they’ll be doing their best to answer any question sent to them from people who are at the Festival (questions outside of those hours or from those off site will not be answered). They’ll essentially be the virtual equivalent of the Festival’s legendarily helpful Information Points, there to assist you with any problem or query you might have during your time on Worthy Farm. Please note, this feed will mainly be responding directly to people’s questions, rather than posting general Glastonbury announcements (that’s what the @glastofest account is for).

Not into Twitter?

If you’re not a Twitter user, then you’ll still be able to keep in touch with Glastonbury happenings online via this website, our Facebook Page (which takes the same sort of role as the @glastofest account) and our free mobile app. Plus, of course, you’ll be able to read any of our Twitter feeds without actually registering for Twitter yourself – just click on the links above.
