Walk to Worthy Farm Raises £8,000 for WaterAid

May 13, 2009

Last Sunday, 250 people took part in the Millets Walk for WaterAid, which has already raised over £8,000. It all kicked off at 10am as the groups of walkers headed towards Wells and then onwards to Worthy Farm. People turned out with their friends, family and pets to enjoy the scenic walk and to see the Glastonbury site in its natural state, only 7 weeks before the festival. One walker due to get married in August, Paul Haines, completed the walk with his best man as they raised money for WaterAid instead of asking for wedding presents.

Kate Vigar, Assistant Marketing Manager at Millets said, “We couldn’t have asked for a better day. The sun shone for us as we completed the 12-mile walk to Worthy Farm, where Michael Eavis greeted everyone and The Travelling Band performed an acoustic set. As the walk got tougher towards the end, it was a good reminder of those people less fortunate than us, who have to walk miles every day to collect water. We are really pleased that we could play our part in helping to raise money for such a worthwhile cause.”
