The Oxfam shop on Eastover in Bridgwater, Somerset was on the brink of closure but, with Michael Eavis’s help, it has been given a new lease of life and an extensive refit.
On Saturday Michael cut the ribbon on the new store with the help of the Bootleg Beatles, who played a set alongside local bands Snakes and Sods Law and Bridgwater funny-man Callum Cook, before the afternoon closed with a set by DJ Krausey.
The sun came out and so did the Beatles’ fur jackets; smiles everywhere with the help of a mountain of bunting and a 25kw sound-system. The shop also took a record amount, despite a half-price offer on all items of clothing.’
