It went by far too quickly but, after two years of anticipation, it was worth the wait!
As one of the three official good causes at the world-famous Glastonbury Festival, WaterAid’s crack team of volunteers were once again spreading the word about water, sanitation and hygiene by giving out water, cleaning toilets, staffing she-pees and picking up litter for recycling.
We launched our Pump Up the Volume campaign and have been blown away by the amount of love and support everyone gave us at the festival – an incredible 35,000 Festival-goers put their name to a world where everyone, everywhere has safe water and sanitation by signing our Pump Up the Volume petition. THANK YOU!
We are so proud to be taking all your voices to the UN General Assembly in New York this September, where we can tell world leaders that you want to live in a world where everyone, everywhere has clean water to drink and a safe place to go the toilet. We will tell them that this matters, and that people care – we have the signatures to prove it!
If we can get world leaders to commit to a world where everyone, everywhere has safe water and sanitation by 2030 we will have made huge strides towards ending extreme poverty. The world would be healthier, better nourished, better educated, more equal and more productive. Thanks to you, we could be one step closer to making that world possible.
If you haven’t yet signed up there is still time!
Since we returned, our inbox has been full of great feedback from the people we met at the Festival. We are a very happy charity and wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who signed our petition and everyone who was so lovely to our volunteers.
We’re glad you enjoyed your Festival experience as much as we did! We loved meeting you all and we’re very proud. We can’t wait to see you back at the farm in 2014, but until then please do keep in touch with us: www.facebook.com/wateraid • @wateraiduk • www.wateraid.org
