Glastonbury named world's most influential music festival

September 28, 2014

We’re pleased to report that Glastonbury has been named the most influential music festival on the planet in a new survey.

Spotify found that the Festival had the biggest global impact by causing a 78% increase in streams for headliners Kasabian, Metallica and Arcade Fire. The Festival’s headliners experienced a 57% rise in streams in the UK and a 60% increase in the US.

Ed Sheeran was also named the most successful non-headliner for his Pyramid Stage performance. His streams rose 319% within a week of his Glastonbury set.

Said Emily Eavis: “That’s fantastic news. It’s amazing to think that the music we hear in these fields in Somerset at Festival time is reaching out to so many people.  Hopefully we will carry on bringing the best new music – alongside the legends of course! – to Worthy Farm for many years to come.”
