Glastonbury Festival 2014

Glastonbury favourite named Photographer of the Year

7 April 2011

Somerset-based Matt Cardy, one of the Festival's most widely published photographers, was named Photographer of the Year at the 2010 Press Awards in London this week.

Congratulations to Matt, whose work can often been seen in local newspapers - and on this website - as well as the national papers. He was also a key contributor and organiser of last year's acclaimed Glastonbury At 40 exhibition - shown at the Festival itself and at galleries throughout the South West.

"It is a real honour to win this prestigious award, given the incredibly tough competition, " said Matt. "Although space didn't allow Glastonbury Festival to feature in my portfolio, it remains one the highlights of my photographic calender.'

Organised by The Society of Editors, the Press Awards celebrates the best of British journalism, "recognising excellence in both individuals and teams in the media industry, across 25 different categories".

There is another chance to see the Glastonbury at 40 exhibition at the Somerset Rural Life Museum in Glastonbury from May 14 until September 3.
