We’re sorry to report that the inimitable Toumani Diabaté has been forced to withdraw from his opening slot on the Pyramid Stage on Friday 28th June, due to illness. The Grammy-winning kora player is suffering from a serious – but non-life threatening – bout of malaria and has been advised by doctors to cancel all of his European and US summer dates. We wish him all the best for a quick recovery and hope to welcome him to Worthy Farm soon.
Toumani’s slot will be taken by the highly-charged rebel generals of Congolese music, Jupiter & Okwess Orchestra, who first burst into prominence on Damon Albarn’s ‘DCR Music – Kinshasa One Two’ album and more recently were a highlight on the Africa Express train tour.
